2012 Goals


It's that time of the year again. First, I would like to point out that of all my fitness resolutions from last year I did accomplish one - completing a 5K.  I didn't get down to 169 pounds but up until Christmas, I did get down to within 4 pounds of that goal. I am proud of myself.

My fear for my resolutions is that I don't know enough yet, to insure I am setting practical ones. So, I will just throw them out there as they are.

1:  Run without further injuries.  - August 23rd incident (avoiding a truck and landing with twisted PAINFUL knee) - October 31st diagnosed with a small tear on the right lateral meniscus and fissuring of the cartilage behind the right knee cap. 

2:  Complete the entire Get Fit Live Fit 20 week Running Course I committed to (without injury). Finished AND signed up for another 20 week session.

3:  Weigh 169 by Valentine's Day. WOOHOO!! 167.8! - 2/14/12

4:  Weigh 154 by July 4th. - I did NOT make this goal. 

5:  Lower my body fat percentage by an additional 5% (reach at least 31%) by Dec 31, 2012. I was 38% on 9/01/2011 and reached 34% on 3/10/2012. - I did NOT make this goal. 

6:  Run a 5K with a pace under 11:00.  YES!!! 6/10/2012 @ Run Like A Girl. Pace = 10:28!

7:  Run a 10K race!  Done! RUM RUN 10K - 5/27/12. Official pace 11:35 mpm


8: To run 50% or more of the Girlfriends Half Marathon in October.Completed 10/14/12 with 12:42 pace

9:  Lose enough inches in my hips that I can fit a Woman's Brooks Running jacket by 12/31/2012. YES!!  - 8/18/12 

10: Run 500 miles in 2012. Completed #500 on October 6th, 2012! YES!!!

11/25//2012: Hot Buttered Run 12K - 7.58 miles 
1:29:29 minutes (11:48 pace)  (coming off injury hiatus)
("OFFICIAL TIME" 1:37:01 includes an 8 minute freight train)
HR ave: 165 bpm - Peak HR: 179 bpm 
#22 out of 24 in my division and #332 out of 387 women.



10/14/2012: Girlfriends Half Marathon - 13.2 miles 
2 hrs 46 min 26 sec (12:42 pace
Injured the last 8 miles - slight 'tear on the right lateral meniscus'
HR ave: 160 bpm - Peak HR: 174 bpm 
#102 out of 237 in my division
#1302 out of 2242 women.



09/29//2012: Color Run 5K Run - 3.1 miles 
Untimed & ran without electronics (color would have destroyed them)
Strictly a fun run with colored cornstarch being thrown at you


08/19//2012: Every Girl's 5K Run - 3.04 miles 
31:00 minutes (10:11 pace
("OFFICIAL TIME" is 3.1 miles for a 10:00 pace but Garmin disagrees)
HR ave: 170 bpm - Peak HR: 182 bpm 
#5 out of 21 in my division and #64 out of 207 women.


07/22/2012: Harvest Days 8K Run - 5.00 miles 
53 minutes 29 seconds (10:46 pace
(Garmin said distance was 4.9 and a pace of 10:55)
HR ave: 168 bpm - Peak HR: 184 bpm (Crazy SPRINT at finish - again)
#8 out of 20 in my division  and #137 out of 216. 
BONUS: Made top 50% of all women - #71 out of #144 women.


06/23/2012: Solstice 6 mile Run - 6.00 miles 
1 hour 6 minutes 14 seconds (11:02 pace
(Garmin said distance was 6.02 and a pace of 11:00)
HR ave: 172 bpm - Peak HR: 182 bpm (damned hill!)
#3 out of 7 in my division  and #58 out of 102. 


06/10/2012: Run Like A Girl 5K Run - 3.10 miles 
32:39 minutes (10:28 pace
(Garmin said distance was only 3.08 for a pace of 10:32)
HR ave: 176 bpm - Peak HR: 187 bpm (ooops)
#2 out of 16 in my division 


05/27/2012: Rum Run 10K Run - 6.2 miles 
1 hour 11 minutes 54 seconds (11:19 pace
HR ave: 173 bpm - Peak HR: 183 bpm
#15 out of 25 in my division 

03/18/2012: Shamrock 5K Run - 3.10 miles 
Official Time:  40:47 min (13:02 pace) - inc. stopping for trains and finish line wait
Actual Running Time: 38:35 min (12:14 pace
HR ave: 174 bpm  - Peak HR: 183 bpm
#288 out of 415 in my division -


01/08/2012: Resolution 5K Run - 3.1 miles
38:24 minutes (12:23 pace)   
HR ave: 178 bpm   -   Peak HR: 186 bpm


01/01/2012: Randy Ehrhard Memorial Run - 3.39 miles
43:09 minutes (12:44 pace)   
HR ave: 176 bpm   -   Peak HR: 182 bpm


12/04/2011: Jingle Bell 5K Race - 3.10 miles
39:50 minutes (12:49 pace)   
#103 out of 118 in my division - faster than only 12.7% of my division.
My Running partner and inspiration beat me by 5 minutes and 49 seconds.
HR ave: 175 bpm   -  Peak HR: 191 bpm

11/24/2011: Turkey Trot LESS than 5K after a runner suffered a severe illness which caused the course to be diverted/cut short. Distance Unknown
39:41 minutes (pace & actual distance unknown but at LEAST 13:13)
